Bryan Russell

Bryan joined the Air Force in 1993. After bootcamp, he was assigned to Elmendorf Air Force Base in Alaska. He remained there until the end of his enlistment in 1997.

Upon returning home, Bryan moved to Michigan. He joined the Michigan Air National Guard in 1999. In 2005, he was deployed during Iraqi Freedom. He also had numerous other deployments to sites throughout his Air Force career.

Bryan retired from the military in 2016.

Bryan continues to support his ‘war fighter’ Brotherhood and in part through his employment with the Federal government supporting the armed Forces.

Bryan will be accompanying some of his ‘Brotherhood’ to the opening day of the Detroit Tigers.
Bucket List Dreams would like to thank Bryan for his lifelong service to his country and especially to his Brotherhood.

Roy Dorey

In 1984 Roy joined the delayed entry program. Two weeks after he graduated high school (in June of 1985) he was off to Basic Training for the Army. After Basic, he went to infantry school. He also attending signal school in Ft. Gordon, Georgia. Next, he went to Ft. Lewis, Washington from where he deployed to Korea for a year deployment in support of protection of the Demilitarized Zone. He re-enlisted for another year tour but this time was assigned to southern Korea. From Korea he returned to Ft. Riley, Kansas from where he was deployed to support Desert Shield and Desert Storm in Iraq.

After returning home he received orders to Stuttgart, Germany. Then came down-sizing of the Army and he took a buy-out, left the Army and focused on trying to salvage his marriage. His wife and he struggled from the separation caused by his deployments and eventually went through a divorce. His wife took their child and Roy lost contact with his first child. Roy is a survivor of PTSD and suicide.

Roy had to go through a lot to get to where he could date again. He eventually found another woman and they married. They had a child and adopted another. This marriage failed as well. After losing everything… his family, business, etc. he joined the Michigan National Guard. He had several assignments throughout Michigan. Roy was also deployed to Iraq again and after returning, struggled with PTSD once more.
He was involved in a serious car accident and nearly lost my life. They put a steal rod in his leg to hold the femur together. He was able to fight back, however, and after a year of rehabilitation he deployed again, this time to Afghanistan. After this deployment Roy spent a few more years in the Army then retired in 2021.
Roy Says… “Thank You Bucket List Dreams and God bless IGY6… SSG Dorey, Retired”.

Roy has had a difficult life to say the least. But he still cares and gives to his “Brotherhood”… the US Military Veteran Community. Roy has helped BLD to organize a great event… he is taking a group of fellow Vets to the Detroit Tigers Opening Home Game. This is quite an event in Michigan, and we are sure that they will all enjoy it.

Thank you, Roy, for all that you have done for this country and you tremendous sacrifices. We at BLD appreciate you and wish to provide some ‘FUN’ for you… you deserve it… enjoy the game!!!

John Furnas

Michigan Air National Guard 2005-2017

I joined the Michigan Air National Guard in June 2005 as I wanted to serve my Country and remain in School. I had always been interested in aircraft and I wanted to follow in the footsteps of my brother and grandfather who both served in the Air Force.

By June of 2006, I had completed basic training / technical school and started my aircraft electrical and environmental systems apprenticeship on the C-130. By 2007 my unit switched airframes and I began to work on the KC-135 tanker. In early 2009 I had the opportunity to take a full-time position as an aircraft electrician and environmental systems technician (E&E). It is a unique opportunity where instead of performing drills once a month, I was able to wear the uniform every day doing the work I enjoyed. I continued to train earning my 5 level (journeyman) and eventually my 7 level (craftsman) certification and became the E/E shop Chief. I completed two overseas deployments to Qatar in 2011 and 2014 and many trips to Europe and Alaska. I thoroughly enjoyed troubleshooting aircraft electrical systems but was forced to sperate in 2017 due to an injury I sustained on deployment.

I have met many great people and learned countless lifelong lessons from my time in the service.

Back in Germany, he honed his skills with the esteemed 1st Armor Division, participating in numerous training exercise.

His career path led him to Fort Hood, Texas, where he served with the 1st Cavalry Division, achieving the rank of E-4. In 1999, duty called once more, taking him to Vilseck, Germany, with the 1st Infantry Division. Deployed to Kosovo, SGT Langley led a tank crew, playing a vital role in maintaining peace and stability.
Recognized for his leadership qualities, he completed Primary Leadership Course, rising to the rank of E-5. His final act of service saw him leading the first tank maneuver training exercise in Czechoslovakia.
After honorably completing his service in 2002, Sgt Langley remained in Germany, starting a family. Now residing in Battle Creek, Michigan, he continues to support the warfighter, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to the military community he holds dear.

Brian exemplifies why Bucket List Dreams exists. BLD not only exists to fulfill the Bucket List Dreams of US Military Veterans. We also exist to preserve the stories of ‘inspirational people’… like Brian. We want to thank Brian and his ‘Brothers’ who will be joining him to attend the Opening Day events of the Detroit Tigers ball club. We hope that they have a great time and it is an enjoyable and fun experience!!
