Lieutenant Colonel Michael A Oetjens is the Medical Logistics Flight Commander for the 88th Medical Group, 88th Air Base Wing,

He leads the Air Force Medical Service‘s second largest medical materiel account; leading 197 personnel providing logistics, facility management, and medical maintenance support for the 88th Medical Group and 40 geographically separated units.Lieutenant Colonel Oetjens began his career in the Air Force in 2007 when he was selected as a direct commission to the Medical Service Corps. Wright-Patterson Medical Center is Lieutenant Colonel Oetjens third Medical Logistics Flight
Command. He recently completed a tour within the Defense Health Agency as the Medical Logistics and Facilities Management Branch Chief for the Education and Training Directorate. Lieutenant Colonel Oetjens managed medical accounts, supporting 48 joint clinical training programs, which graduates 16.5 thousand students annually. He also spent nearly four years with the Air Force Medical Operations Agency (AFMOA) as Deputy Chief of Medical Logistics Operations
for AFMOA South. While there Lieutenant Colonel Oetjens managed 97 Air Force Medical Service contracts. Lieutenant Colonel Oetjens has had the honor of serving overseas on three deployments in his career. Once to Kuwait where he served as the Chief Administrator and Executive Officer in the 386th Expeditionary Medical Group. He also served in Afghanistan as an advisor to the Afghan National Police Surgeon General and Afghan National Police Medical Depot Commander. He guided the Afghan National Police in the development of a decentralized medical supply distribution system, reducing supply delivery times to the outer provinces by 120%.
